@clanless I'll be backing off the feed bag a bit too. I had three bouts of obesity in my life and had to diet my way out of them and it took me several months to do it. Once you reach your goal, you'll have learned what is satisfying and works for you and what calories different foods carry.

And you'll know when it's okay to cheat/slip a little because you can reverse things later.

I love sweets and drink lots of diet fizzy pops. I've been doing that for 40 years or more and I'm still a few years from 70 but in all these years, it doesn't seem to have bothered me at all. Maybe it's just me but I don't care what the media says it will do to me, I enjoy it and won't give it up!

Your scales are your friend. They'll let you know when you've been naughty. I let myself slip up to the "5 pounds too much" mark. I am comfortable at about a stone less than what I weighed when I visited England and intend to never get 5 pounds over that ever again.

I'm in my cheating mode at the moment. Baking and eating. And my scales are telling me I'd better reverse direction now. :blue thumb:

For me, the key to staying on this eating plan - is to not 'over think' things - as soon as I start thinking about whether one drink or the other is better for me - I'll fall off the wagon. I've a history of doing this with other diets. But you are right - I could probably eat even more healthily - but history shows me that I won't keep it up for the long term.

When we feel it is the right time, I'll introduce a 'cheat day' - where I can eat/drink other things. Variety is the spice of life as they say.

If things start to slip - Mrs C will make this abundantly clear....

Went out for a drive up into the hills behind us. The Oranges are heavy on the trees, the Almond trees are in bloom, the Aloe arborescens are all in bloom and look magnificant and the Oxalis pes-caprae are covering the fields. It was lovely day.

It was Upsy as we hadn't been out for a drive in months. The hills were quite green, but they get more rain than us up there. :frown:

It has been a family heavy weekend, we are planning a real proper holiday with my siblings. :) Somewhere warm, easily reachable from both Finland and UK, good food, cobblestones, hiking. Portugal is topping the list just now but as we are all so eager just to go anywhere really we are totally flexible. Malta and Madeira are under consideration, and Tenerife is always an option, there's some great hiking up Mount Teide.

It was so nice to have a virtual night together, planning, drinking wine and eating takeaway foods. (Ours was a meze platter :dbgrtmb: )

How lovely to have something to look forward to. :dancy:

Makes sense - there is no way a jury is going to convict this driver.

A driver who used his car to try to stop a woman being stabbed by her stalker ex-husband in west London has been released without charge.

I wonder about this kind of thing, yes he has hopefully got off of a stupid murder charge, but its taken long enough for that to happen, the wheel of justice grind very slowly.

He will now probably find himself totally uninsurable and I doubt his existing insurance will cover the damage to his car.

If you do the right thing in this country you rarely come out on top, I hope he does, but I doubt it.

Just back from my pre- assessment before my surgery next week, and I knew what would happen ..always does!!:wallbanging:

Had to have my blood pressure taken several times and I now have to take 3 readings a day myself and bring the results in with me on surgery day. White coat syndrome has a lot to answer for but it's reassuring that they do take it seriously and do checks.

I've been given exercise sheets , one set to do every 30mins during the recovery period and another set to do 3 times a day until I can resume my normal daily routines.

Hopefully I can be up and ' running' within 3-4 weeks if all goes to plan, but must remember not to overdo things for 12 weeks and listen to my leg if it complains!! Which I will do as I most definitely want this to be successful, especially since a friend's husband it still reminding me that he had the same done and his knee is now worse than before....why do people have to do that!!:noidea:

                      Mine WILL work!!:dbgrtmb:

Oh I know all too well about White Coat Syndrone! When I was going for my Physio last April, the Physio was alarmed every day at my readings, +/-200/90 but before leaving home and on arriving back I would be +/-110/65. :dunno: He took my word rather than whisking me off to the ER on the floor below. :phew: All will be well with you Upsy. :imphrt:

We went for our Booster this morning, Open House. Got there at 11am and it was deserted outside, no queues inside, straight to Reception with three staff working. Handed our Certificates, we were logged in and sent to where the nurses booths are (4 staffed), two people waiting, one person went into a booth and my name was called and then T'other Half. I was logged on the laptop, my Pfizer card updated, jabbed, being told I only had to wait 15 minutes. All staff there were so friendly and chatty (all spoke English). It was 11,08am when we sat in the Observation Area. Both are fine.

Came home and we sat out in the sun for 15 minutes before lunch. Took a couple of pics I'll put up.

Good to hear that all went smoothly this morning and that you're both now all safely jabbed up Vicky.:dbgrtmb:

My last op in 2016 I had to get copies of all my past readings from my GP and take them into hospital. Glad they have only asked me to keep a record this time as trying to get a sudden GP appointment is bad enough but just for some print-outs could be pushing my luck!!;)
