Today I took my car in to the dealer to get the passenger airbag replaced on a recall notice. I have been putting it off for almost a year as the car was in almost constant use last year. When the letter came in last month I arranged to get it done soon as. It didn't take long and the car came back all washed and vacuumed out.

@Logan that video clip you showed of Rod Stewart filling in the potholes was good as using that road is my shortest way of getting into the nearest town. I gave up using it a year ago as the potholes were so bad. It's a narrow winding country road about a mile long.

His house is at one end of the road, with three neighbours, and there's a farm at the other end of the road. The road from his house to the end is well surfaced but if he wanted to go out the other end of the road he has to make a four mile detour on a road that is almost as bad or a detour of eight miles. If he tried driving his Ferrari along his road when it rained you just might see the top of the car sticking out of the water in the potholes. :heehee:

@shiney glad that you liked it, he was prepared to help with it himself, even though he couldn't do a lot because of his age.

The radio/bluetooth/'phone/mp3 connection died in my new car. It's in the garage now to get sorted. Picking it up tomorrow.

I had a hire car whilst my car was in. It is a 'top of the range' Renault Clio - twice the price of my Dacia Sandero.

It has much the same running gear as my Dacia - you can tell that Dacia is owned by Renault.

Thing is - this Clio is smaller than my Dacia - it is uncomfortable to drive and to be brutally honest is in no way twice as good the Dacia. I did a bit of research before purchasing the Sandero and I knew that it was based upon a Clio - but didn't know how close they are in the flesh - until now. Purchasing the Dacia was a good move.

Saw the new Dacia Jogger in the flesh - it's a nice looking car and much larger than I thought that it would be. It's not a Sandero with an extended backside and has a new design engine.

When I left your place on the couple of times I came, I seem to remember ending up on a narrow lane, kind of up and down and twisty, the potholes weren't that bad,but I'm now wondering if this is the place.
Strange part is I never came along that road when arriving.

If you followed your satnav going home that was certainly possible. If you left my place by going to the left out of my driveway you could have gone down the road and turned left before reaching a level crossing. That would definitely have taken you down that road. Very narrow, but still just about two lanes, and it always became quite bad with potholes that they never repaired properly. I sued the county council for a damaged wheel and ruined tyre. They tried to say that they were not liable because the pothole hadn't been reported to them (that's the law :noidea:) but I had a friend in the road department that found the original report for me. :roflol:

Yeah, left out of your house and then another left I think, satnavs have always led me up the garden path.

If I recall - there is a time limit for the Council to repair pot holes - if someone tells them about them - this must be what they were talking about. Council's set aside a fairly large chunk of cash to pay out for personal claims - damaging cars due to potholes and people tripping over on uneven pavements etc. Interesting factoid - uneven pavements are only uneven if they stick up over a certain amount - it's something like 3 cms above ground (I think).

I did look it up when installing my drive edging stones as I didn't want Postman Pat tripping over the edging and taking me to court. I also don't want the postman to damage my car with his head....

I seem to remember being told by KCC that they are supposed to check all roads on something like a three monthly basis.
The road I ripped two tyres to shreds on was apparently checked in that period and nobody had reported the pothole responsible. Oh yeah?

I was off the road for three days as it was a Friday night, when I checked on the Monday someone had thrown a bucket of tarmac in it.

In the E mail I received it was suggested that I save the council money by not pursuing a claim as I was very unlikely to win the case anyway.

Up yours KCC, (bunch of criminals), it cost me the best part of £250 to get it sorted out.

Talking about checking roads - one of the Council's I worked for - employed a bloke to drive around at night recording the location of any street lights that were not working. What an absorbing job.
