Didn't feel like doing any gardening today, so I took my new trail shoes out for a mile run. I've been suffering from awful shin splints when road running lately so am going largely off road for a few months. These are well-cushioned with excellent grip, and coupled with the fact that I'm running on softer and more varied surfaces, this should hugely improve things for my legs and help strengthen them.
Had almost no pain in my shins during or after the run! Just shows how investing in the right kit can make life so much easier!

Belated Happy Birthday wishes @clanless and have a lovely evening, All! :)

I wish I was able to go for a run or even just a brisk walk. Today I walked the 100 yards to the local shop and was dead on my feet before I reached home. My hip has really started playing up since the gardening season started. I don't think humping 50L bags of compost helps.
What made things worse is just how uneven pavements are. They look fine until you have an injury then they are like the rocky road to Dublin.

Oh dear, @Jocko. I've had hip pain for the last 3 years and it's awful! Have you tried taking any supplements for joint pain? I've been on these for a couple of months and I seem to be improving slightly because of them, the pain is now about 2/3rds of what it used to be! A tad pricey I know, but if they improve your quality of life...

Good heavens, last time I ran was about 30 years ago and I'm only 50 :yikes:

What happened I wonder... as kids, walking was not an option, we just ran everywhere and everyabouts. As a young adult, running was a form of exercise or a mean to catch a bus.

Now running has not been needed for decades and it's quite interesting that a form of movement so biological has been off the schedule for most parts of my life.

I'm very thankful for walking, the rhythm and the level of exercise are a bliss to clear the brain after a day of work. When I'm no longer able to go for walks I do hope I will get a fancy mobility scooter with inappropriate stickering and decorations. My daughter has promised to get some Harley Davidson stuff for it (she has no idea what H&D is but she'll Google it... ).

It's so lovely to see her effortlessly running for a jog or just to warm up, a young person's body doing just what it's supposed to do. It's also sad to realise that my body is past that.

Getting old is not always a very nice thing, but as my friend says, it's better than the alternative

Thought Barley was over his tummy bug but no, today the diahhrea came back. I was expecting it to because he was sick as well, but not to worry just have to put him back on the toast for a few days more. Had this before and he got over it.
Strange that berry doesn't have the same problem never does.

Thanks. I am taking 8 Tr@madol (Opiates) daily as well as 8 Paracetamol. I am hoping to get a date for my hip replacement before the end of this year. I take cod liver oil but I will try the ones you recommend to see if they help any.

Just got back from a lovely 2.5 mile walk through the nearby bluebell woods.

I've just bought this cone swag from my Littlewoods catalogue, I had a 20%discount code it was already reduced from £49.99 to £39.99 going to put it on the window ledge at Christmas of course. They still had decorations to sell so I thought why not and it's reduced. It's 1.8 meters long.

I have a fibreglass cat that props one side of the gate open while I have the car out. One windy night, because he was rather light, the gate blew partly closed moving him into the opening. When I returned in the dark the gate had blown open again and as I reversed in I reversed over his rear, unfortunately causing terrible injuries. I decided to fill him full of cement and then to finish him off I gave him a "bum transplant" with putty. Today I gave him a spray job using neon paints my better half had bought for painting flowerpots. I think he looks cute and hopefully, he will be easier to see in the dark. We now call him Dylan the Psychedelic cat.
