These weights that Mrs C purchased - it's only been a week and I can already see that it is making a difference. My approach is not to go at it hammer and tongs - but to use them when I am hanging around for a few minutes - eg. waiting for the kettle to boil.

It turns out that you don't have to put that much effort in to make a difference - who would have thought - I very nearly forked out on a gym membership.

Funny how things always work out in the end - pun intended.

Good for you @clanless I hope it turns out ok.

Hubby's working this week so got more dog walking to do, I don't mind it's more exercise for me. Trying to lose a bit of weight, I like to eat wholemeal bread, just 2 slices a day so cutting that out, but the only thing is that it's good fibre and i miss that. Also I'm cutting down on the 2 pieces of chocolate that I have every day.

@Logan As you eat set cooked meals every day, you should calculate the calories in them as some seem high. You have to count in carbs/calories you have for breakfast and lunch too, and any snacks. With summer coming, maybe you should have a salad or two ... free food!

I don't care what the food is that I eat. It can be carbs, protein, grains, alcohol or whatever and I just go by total calories consumed. It usually works out to a balanced mix because I think our bodies give us urges for what we need.

I put back on about 5 lbs. between Christmas and Easter (chocolates and Christmas cake!) but I've backed away from the feed bag and am starting to drop the pounds again.

I don't worry about trying to get "thin" because at my age, thin would mean bones with wrinkly skin hanging off them-Ugh. I just don't want to stress my knees (structure) or overburden my organs.

I've found that nice middle point on the BMI chart for my height and age and plan to stay there.

25 years ago I got massive and never, never again will I do that. Bertha Butt no more!

It's taken me 57 years to find out how to lose weight easily and keep it off - the simple answer is a bowl of oats every morning for breakfast - with big blobs of jam for added sweetness.

It stops me feeling hungry. Then a meal at lunch time - it doesn't matter what it is - and then nothing until the next day - apart from tea of course.

Nothing to eat in the evening means that after lunch I just forget about eating and food. It works - I changed to this eating pattern on 23rd January 2022. What I like to refer to as 'D Day'. This is it from now on.

I don't get on the scales - I'm not worried about BMI - the only question is do I feel better in myself.

They said I'm too heavy for my height, apparently i should be 6ft 10ins.
So just need to grow another foot and I'm there.

Thanks @Victoria I have counted the calories and they're ok. For lunch I have a apple and banana and have a salad once a week on a Tuesday. It's the bread that I shouldn't eat so I've stopped that. But thanks anyway.:doggieshmooze:

Wouldn't the extra foot add to your weight and make walking a bit awkward?

                  Sorry, I'll get my coat.

I have stayed about the same weight all my adulthood apart from being preggies that whacked a 25kg on me in 6 months. Not the best experience!

Getting older however means that the flesh has travelled into somewhat less alluring positions around me so if anything, I'd like to transfer a pound or two from my "waist" about 35cm North and the leftovers Southwards.

In my family half are stick people (my Dad does the best ever impersonation of a Praying Mantis) and half look like they are made by a balloon artist. The stick side envies the balloon curves and the balloon folks desire the lean stick silhouette. I guess we are never happy. :noidea:

@Logan I am lucky, I do not like eating fruit so I would be forgetting about that banana and instead having the whole wheat bread. Yum!

Yes my mom's side are tall and thin, dad's side are more rounded and about just over 5ft.

I take after my dad's side and I've been on and off diet's since I was 11 years old and being pregnant doesn't help, after the baby's born I thought that I'd lose some of it, but no.

Banana is great for Potassium. I don't think your two slices of bread nor two pieces of chocolate are the culprits. In your pictures you look nice and slim so I don't see why you worry. Plus all your exercise of dog walking four times a day. Is it now eight times a day this week as you have to walk both dogs? :doggieshmooze:

I'm interested how you keep your salad fresh @Logan if you only eat it once a week. We buy a lettuce, bag of mixed sweet peppers, a cucumber, bag of carrots, red cabbage , red and white onions, beetroot, and two bags of cherry tomatoes. The lettuce and cucumber definitely wouldn't last more than a week but the others might just ......but don't get the chance in our house as we eat a salad with every meal.
