Beautiful place @Upsydaisy  Nice the sun shone for you, and I'm glad you had a coffee to keep you warm.
I just looked back over your other photos (I never read this thread for some reason) I would have loved that map shop. I enjoy looking at maps especially old ones. Don't give me satnav ! :frown:

Oh Michael, give me an ancient map of a place I know and I'm in heaven !! I can get lost in them for hours, using my old friend Google to provide me with more indepth info/ history as required. :dbgrtmb:

When I went to New Orleans, I felt deja vu after having spent so much time reading the city map. Before my visit over ther back in 2018, I spent hours bent over a map studying the main roads and street maps. I do that wherever I plan to go. London being much bigger, busier, etc still gave me a bit of a challenge no matter how many hours I had studied that map!

Today I spent the morning (once I finally got in gear) finishing the clean up from yesterday. Luckily DIL took most of the leftovers including the turkey carcass and most of the meat. She also let me foist the mashed potatoe, turnip, sprouts, etc etc. So only one little bag of meat to make sandwiches stayed here. :)

I've baked fresh buns. They are a little crustier than I usually do but I didn't hear the timer beeping... I tried a small one and didn't break any teeth though

I did start some seeds, chilies/kelsaes, but this isn't a gardening thread so I'll not mention it...

And now I'm putting my feet up and doing nothing :)

Today we went to the British Museum. Started off with a coffee whilst we chose a few areas that were of particular interest to each of us.

We visited the Roman, Egyptian, British, Greek and Chinese sections too, I won't put more pics up though.

We walked through the China Town section , stopping off to nibble at some yummy food.

Wandered through more interesting side streets some of which were lit up with Christmas decorations.

Next was a spot of lunch Turkish this time, Aubergine wrap and a Chicken salad wrap ,hubs and I got one of each to share between us. Son had some other dish. 20221227_135705.jpg 20221227_135709.jpg

We made a final stop off at a local Turkish shop near to son's place as hubs likes to go there to stock up on spices whenever we come up.

Today was the last day of my Honda Jazz. I have owned it for six and a half years and covered 62547 miles. During that time I have used 1117 gallons of petrol at an average of 55 mpg. Total running cost ££13919.76 which works out at 22p per mile. 25p per mile if I factor in the initial purchase price of £1795.
It has only let me down once, five weeks after buying it, when it wouldn't crank over first thing in the morning. The battery had failed. The RAC came out, fitted a new battery, and has run like clockwork ever since. I would recommend a Honda Jazz to anybody.
On returning home with it I shuffled them around in the drive so that the Jazz is in the corner. I insured the Fabia from midnight tonight but I will have to wait until my paperwork comes through before I can tax it. Normally you can do it online but the New Owners slip Document Reference is invalid. This is usually because a new V5 was issued but the owner sold it with the original V5.

Today I was in a well known department store, and in the isle where they had Christmas decorations for sale, there were in their place rows of carrier bags all saying "HAPPY EASTER" :heehee: It gets more stupid every year

Just dropped off our Scania in Carlisle as it is goes in for test Tuesday. In the truck cafe now with my son and daughter. Two full English breakfasts a sausage sandwich, two brews and a soft drink £9.50, it was lovely.

Finally got around to writing some thank you notes for things my neighbours had given me. And I also wrote and mailed a thank you to Midwest Chili Peppers in Tecumseh, Kansas to thank them for sending my new seeds before the first sub freezing weather and also for gifting extra varieties and also a Christmas card wishing me successful germination this year. :)

I'm now going to do some bread baking and just puttering around.

Discovered our roof is leaking into the roof space. We had priced a new roof but cannot afford it. Next best solution - a bucket under the drip!
