Your Day (apart from gardening) - what took place?

Jan 1st.......let the Spring cleaning commence!

As I hate sitting around during the damp Winter months and am far too busy with nurturing my seedlings in Spring now is the ideal time.

The kitchen is my big dread!!!! Glad when that room is done.

 

Good luck! I'll have to start the same, dreading everything already. I'm not a house proud person but like to think the house is at least half decent. That image was shattered when I pulled the fridge out and looked behind it. Unspeakable. Cleaning it probably caused the biggest loss of biodiversity of the decade in the North East.

 

Too true....but it's a great feeling when it's all done .
When Spring comes we're out there enjoying it all and not stuck indoors .

 

Took down all of the Christmas decorations and tree, i know it's supposed to be the 6th but i don't believe in that sort of thing. Just managed to get all of the boxes back into the wardrobe because we bought a few extra things. For next time might have to empty another wardrobe that's just got odds and ends that we don't use, keep them just in case.

 

Decided to make the most of this beautiful weather and went on a 3.5 mile walk . The garden tasks will now get done inbetween the bouts of rain that we're due to have over the next 2 weeks.

Saw lots of children proudly riding shiny new bikes.

 

Went to our local aquarium today then played the 14 hole mini golf course. The 13th hole is probably the hardest hole I have ever played at these crazy golf courses, I gave up after 46 attempts otherwise the ball would of ended up in the harbour.

Forgot to take my phone, the view from Maryport across the solway to Scotland is spectacular on a clear day, can even see the northern tip of IOM. Plenty of people out walking, which is no surprise after the volume of rain it has put down lately.

 

Gathering/listing/organizing for taxes the accounts of our second home which we airbnb. First year so tons of numbers from buying things to fill the house. I hope not to faint when I finally do the additions etc. We should be in the negative, good thing, then we will owe nothing and get some back.

 

Hubby has another hernia developing on his right side, he's seeing a private consultant tomorrow, £300. for a 15 minute appointment. He's going private again because he's not waiting for the NHS.

Also he's in the process of having a replacement hip done. He's had his x-ray and now he's been referred to a osteopath at the Droitwich spa hospital, it's a private hospital that treat NHS patients. Seen someone today he was walking his 2 dogs he was supposed to have his hip replaced today but it got cancelled, now it's the 11th of February.

 

I see why he's going private for the consultation @Logan but without the ability to get private treatment for the hernia is it worth it?
Maybe you have an insurance?

 

Thanks Pete, he will get the treatment privately and no he doesn't have insurance, he's going to pay for it. He had a hernia on his left side but he couldn't get treated with the NHS, couldn't get to see a consultant at all, they would only do it if it was an emergency, it was so bad that he paid for it to be done. He wants to get that done before he has the hip replacement, but that will be a few months away or more.

 

I saw a consultant regarding a hernia on the NHS last summer, I was the only person there and they made me wait 1 hr 45 min passed my appointment time, the nurse there came out and talked to me in the waiting room for 45 minutes as she had nothing to do I guess.

Finally I get to see this bloke whose English was terrible, I caught every third word, and I think he said I wasn't in a bad enough state for surgery, come back when you are in agony.

I was referred because my GP thought it needed sorting out, not emergency but needs doing.

Hope he can get it sorted @Logan, I think we are a third world country now, or maybe 4th, who knows.

 

Thanks @pete when he had the first hernia his doctor referred him to the hernia clinic in edgebaston, when he got there he didn't have to wait long but the consultant said that it wasn't bad enough, like you it had to be serious. It's the same clinic and consultant that's treating him privately,that's what consultants do.
I don't know if it's because of covid or that there's not so many doctors.

Have you got yours sorted out now?

 

Yeah go private and they will see you next day, I was told there is no funding for hernias unless its an emergency, so go away and become one.

Hope he gets it sorted, mine is still waiting to become an emergency.

Dont think it has much to do with covid as it was like this years ago, NHS has been rubbish for years now, but getting worse, I must admit.

We cannot believe the prices they are charging ... trying to catch up with America I guess! Here private consultation (given 30 minutes which may be more or less) is 75 Euros (a little over £66). SNS/NHS would be 7.50 Euros. You have to pay a little something on the SNS/NHS here, ie, a GP visit is 5 Euros. We tend to go private and don't have insurance but have a grocery card which carries insurance (difficult to explain) so each visit you get about 10% put on your card.
