On the subject of car lights. I T-Cut my headlamp lenses the other day. Over the last decade they had developed a slight bloom caused by the affect of road dust hitting them when you're driving on motorways. Now they are bright and perfectly clear of fine scratches.

I might nick that idea @Doghouse Riley - my foglights aren't the best, and I was wondering what to do with them. I didn't take a before picture, but the original lights were very yellow (looked like an old dying torch) - here are the new ones which are a lot whiter to match the HID's on the main lights:

            This is "Rhonda the Honda."

Because the lights sweep around the wing, the worst area for glazing, are the corners of the lenses. But about ten minutes on each with the paste and enough water at a slow speed with a pad on a drill, did the job. A high speed would send the water everywhere.

I did the same on its predecessor "Brucie" about six years after we had him. ('cos he was spruce green.) but that wasn't as bad as the lenses didn't sweep round as much.

The biggest problem I had with our new freezer was registering the guarantee on line.

I forgot to check if the serial number was on the box before I took it down to the tip with the packing.

So I had to get down on my hands and knees to read it off the sticker on the side at the bottom of the interior and make a note of it.

Tiny digets and naffin' twenty of them, plus the model number!

@Doghouse Riley what type of paste did you use? I need to clean up the headlights on my mustang this spring. Can't do it until then because it is 28f and only going to get colder for the next three months.

@Logan I continued eating my Christmas cake. Perhaps the fruits were a little on the acidy side? :fingers crossed:

I finally found someone who needed the electric hospital bed I had here. I didn't want to give it to a dealer, only someone who needed a hand up. I'll be smiling for a few days as that is the last of the items I hadn't yet found a home for. And it clears more space in the cellar. :)

You can by stuff from auto shops.
                      Toothpaste can work.

                      I used this.

Yesterdays post included new seals for the heater on the hot tub. The old ones were past their best and had started to leak. Old and new below. I decided to 'just' replace the seals yesterday afternoon.

                        IMG_3799 (002).jpg

To say that the space is cramped would be an understatement. Whilst contorting myself to undo the fittings and then replace the seals I leant on one of the water jet fittings which broke so had a stream of water coming straight at me.

In my hurry to get out of the way I then got my foot trapped between a pump and the blower motor.

Finally released, I started draining the tub as the fitting would need to be replaced when the tub is empty.

I then got to work on replacing the seals which would be simple except for the tight space. Replaced the seals - had a leak. Undid the fittings, added a bit of silicone grease to the threads and re-assembled. Success ! No more leaks.

What should have been a 30 minute job increased to over 2 hours.

Now awaiting the replacement fitting so that I can put the thing back together.

@andrews I used to have a hot tub. One winter we had a bad ice storm and somehow the breaker for the tub flipped off. None of the other breakers in the house flipped so I didn't realize this one had done so. Well, the tub froze, all the lines froze and snapped the fittings all over the place. Cost me $600 to get the junk guys to come and take it away.

Now the deck surface is replaced so that there is no "hole" for recessing the tub and I have put together two small greenhouses there :)

I once, years ago when the pump needed replacing, had to deal with tight spaces. I felt I could be a circus contortionist after the ordeal! Hope your parts arrive soon :)

I make greetings cards and got a lot of containers of embellishments. Found a place in the spare wardrobe to put them in, instead of on the floor. It's slowly taking over the house. Used a drawer in the bedside cabinet for printed paper and card, drawer in a chest of drawers.

I found a graphics package, spent 3 hours learning how to use it, and then created a logo for the Friends of Square Park group.
