I produce custom soft home furnishings. Drapery , slipcovers, shades, etc etc.. I have a drapery workroom and have my certification in this trade. Some 20 years ago, I used to work in an office as a credit manager in the steel industry then when my boys were grown and gone, went back to school, learned professional methods and started my own business.

Yes you are more than likely right @Kandy , some of the trees would definitely have to go...... in my dreams that is!
But if money was no problem it would make a smashing home!

We're not far from Brockenhurst ,I have an Aunt that lives there too.
The livestock are great, but apparently it's becoming over populated with them and the surrounding vegetation is suffering. There was a programme on TV about it last night. We go walking in the area quite often and feel very fortunate to have the New Forest right on our doorstep. IMG_20180905_104703_hdr.jpg IMG_20180905_104149.jpg IMG_20180905_104003.jpg

@Upsydaisy Reading between the lines on that property, there's a fairly substantial problem. The property is deemed unsafe but it is also a listed building. It is likely to cost more to make it safe and renovate it than it would to pull it down and start from scratch. Not a good prospect unless you're in the building trade.

So you're effectively paying that price for the land, which I would guess is way above local rates. A habitable three bedroomed property in that road recently went for £195,000. I can see it costing almost that amount to renovate it.

There have been over 18,000 views of the for sale details and nobody has even made an offer.

All the photos are of the outside. I would guess that the roof and the floors are derelict and it would need a total refit inside. I think they would find it difficult to sell at half that price.

Yes I think your right @shiney . It was really just a bit of escapism this morning for me. I could definitely visualise it as a finished project though!
My hubs would never take such a job on again! When we bought our house 37 yrs ago it was in a terrible state and over the following years he drew up plans and virtually rebuilt it. Completely changed it, and more than doubled its original size, he can't bear to watch any programme based on building renovations now :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

@Upsydaisy I will have to check on the New Forest programme as we missed that one although it could be one we have already seen before.I see what you mean about what the horses etc possibly could be doing but the programme we saw a few months ago with the commoners were saying that a lot of the land is of ecological importance for wildlife and flora and fauna and I think the bird life and Adders possibly benefit with the land in your photos:smile:

I always fancied the Isle of Wight as it has everything on there I could possibly need and when I eventually get my bus pass I can travel round the island for free so it must be good. There is also a nice property up in North Wales near Porthmadog right on the edge of a Resorvoir but (a) It is a bit too pricey and (b) the land is probably owned by the owners of the Resorvoir like the land in Dunster of one cottage I like is owned by the Lutterall (sp) family:sad:

@Kandy it was on Monday at 7:30, Inside Out South. I've just checked on IPlayer and all the different regional episodes are on there. It's the first part of the programme lasting 10mins.

Yes it's very true the land has great ecological value, I also saw that programme.
Sadly the range of species found is greatly declining now.

This programme states that the number of animals--horses, donkeys, cattle and wild boar have tripled over the years and their grazing has left some parts quite barren. Also some animals engage in 'barking' .... stripping the bark from trees. Oak and Beech are some of the worse effected, trees have been hit also by wet winters and hot summers, and regeneration hasn't happened because the animals munch on the saplings. Hence some areas are now not very ' forest' like anymore. These pics tell the sad and worrying story...... IMG_20180905_104844_hdr.jpg IMG_20180905_103740_hdr.jpg

                .....:sad::sad:

I biked into the downtown to feed birds for a change. Took a couple pictures after getting back on top of my hill. Clear day and +6c and a good view of the Rocky Mountains.

Hi there @johnny canoe , how are you?
What fabulous pics I especially like the one with the Rockies in distance.
I bet you've had to put your snow blower to some serious use !!
Are you still hand feeding your feathered friends?:)

Hello Upsy, I'm good and how are you? Actually I've only had to use the snow blower twice so far. We are suppose to get very cold with a couple days of snowing starting this weekend so maybe I'll get to run my machine again.

Enjoyed a 4mile walk to my Dad's, so lovely looking at how the surrounding countryside and gardens are all eruping with new life ... sprouting shoots and late winter/ early spring flowers. Then did 3hrs in his garden.

But boy do my feet ache now! I adore going on long walks but sadly since having my second foot fusion it hasn't really be at all beneficial although the first one was. Won't stop me hobbling ...oops I mean walking though!:heehee:
