Off out to have a "behind the scenes" tour of Thursford where they hold a successful Christmas Show each year. Then off for lunch with friends. The rain has stopped now so all looking good:SUNsmile:

Spent most of the day trying to get hold of Sky. Our internet and phone only seem to work for a few minutes in the morning and late evening.
Every time we get through to them we are put on hold and then cut off. I have just managed to email them (again) in these rare few minutes of connection.
It's been like this for nearly 3weeks now and we are now getting a tad annoyed with the situation.

        :help: :wallbanging: :rage:

So sorry to hear that. I think most of us have reason to moan at times about our phone and or internet service. I'm with Virgin Media. Been with them since their begining. Everyone says I should change as I only have the phone, and cable broadband. I don't want TV etc but I am paying for it. Repairs cost me now't. Either way, I still think it's too costly.

We're going to change from Sky soon, had so much hassle with them. We only have the internet and phone, never bothered with Sky tv as we hardly watch any.
My main concern is the emergency call alerts linked to both my Dad's and brothers alarms. I keep my mobile on but in the house it's not as good as having 3 phones ringing from various parts of the building ( plus the fact that I'm forever losing it too).

We have Virgin Media for the internet only freeview for the TV. Still have BT for the landline, hubby has is mobile what used to be orange but that's been taken over. I have mine with 3. Since we had our new mobiles the reception in the the house is better, don't have to go upstairs for a signal.

@Upsydaisy hope that you get it sorted soon.

We were with Nynex, then Cable & Wireless, then NTL, now Vigin Media. each company took over the other.
Before that we were wih BSkyB, with a "Squarial" and just five satelite programmes! We then got a year's free subscription with Sky when they took over, but decided to have cable once it became available.

Can't say we ever had have any problems.

We have two Virgin Tivo boxes, one in each reception room. There's also a VHS/DVD recorder under the TV in the lounge.
Under the one in the front room as well as the Tivo box, there's a Humax HDR1000, a Panasonic CD/DVD player and a Sony VHS recorder/player. (I've still a lot of film noir on VHS). Fortunately, the TV has 4 USB sockets.

I've also a seperate hard drive that I duplicated some of my favourite films on that I keep on the Humax. I've also a couple of USB sticks, I keep music and some films on them which I can stick in the Humax.

We recently swopped the TVs in both rooms for 43" Sony Bravias.

The feet were too far apart for the sets to sit on the small TV tables, so I bought new pedestal stands for them. Good value for money at £15 each and free postage, from eBay.

I'm impressed with the definition of 4K reception.

                    No visible cables!

You can "talk" to the set in the front room and it will find you things like places of interest, particular programmes, YouTube videos etc.

The 32" Panasonic Viera that was in the front room, is now in the tea-house. I watched some of the Wimbledon Tennis on it, in between doing a bit of gardening.

We've yet to find a home for the 43" LG which was in the lounge, the picture never had a lot of contrast. It might go to the Heart Foundation.

As my wife is mostly housebound due to her MS, to get the widest selection of programmes for her, I had to have BT Sport, without it you don't get some of the other channels. I'm paying about £100 a month including calls. (My wife is on to friends and family..often!) Seems a lot but I've 100mb broadband.

I'm very selective as regards programmes, I don't watch much live TV, I record stuff. With the Tivo and the Humax I can record four programmes at the same time, but rarely do. A lot of stuff I record I might watch a few minutes of it, but then delete it. Some go straight to delete!

I've lots of other interests on which I'd rather spend my time.

I'm supposed ro take it easy and not lift anything heavy. So I only did three small loads of laundry and it already line dried and is put awaya. Took the van for an oil change and whilst waiting for them went for a few groceries. They had my grandson's favourite pasta sauce on sale so I only picked up one case of 12 jars and then 5 pounds of butter and some other items. The cart return was almost halfway back to the oil center so I only had to carry it a few hundred yards. :)

Now I can see properly but can't do any real gardening for a few weeks, I'll not be posting much about "in the garden" but continue to be horrified at how sad it really looks.:yikes:

The solar water pump tnat never really worked well suddenly decided to overfill the troughs in one of the greenhouses and there's go to be a 1/2" of water in there  blooming stupide finicky :mute:...

As I said @Logan we plan to leave at the end of the year anyway...god knows who we try next, we've been with them all ....over the years :dunno:. It's not a case of telling them we're leaving in hope of them fixing it quickly ( in fact they are very quick once they are informed ), no this time around we've had problems contacting them . Finally managed to email them via a link in our account this morning and they contacted us immediately and ran tests to diagnose a problem their end. If not fixed by Monday they will compensate us for lost connection time.

Phone is also dead as a Dodo.

@Upsydaisy that is insane! I cannot imagine the lines being dead or sporadic. Although years ago I was paying for high speed internet. And it wasn't high speed at all. Only after I got a repair guy in for another issue with the telephone land line, did I suddenly get what I was paying for

I hope they get things running up to speed for you!
