I've just watched Obama and Trump meeting in the White House. Trump face was a picture and he's definitely a copy of Mussolini in his facial expressions.:heehee:

      Don't sit on the fence, Silu, it's not like you!!:dunno::nonofinger::heehee::loll::lunapic 130165696578242 5:

There are few people that I've disliked on sight, whether it be face to face or via the media but I have to confess Salmond is right up there. I feel queasy just looking at the man and he reminds me of one of those rather large Mollusc's that leave a trail of slime behind them...........excuse me, while I go and

@ARMANDII i've just sprayed my drink all over the place reading your post:loll:. I have a feeling that you are getting to know me:). I'm not really that outspoken except when it comes to the dregs of society commonly known as the SNP! I love my country and they are hell bent on ruining it. I now have a stitch from laughing too much and perhaps now need to go and lie i a darkened room!

Cant argue with that anthony, just dont know to be honest and cant be bothered to spend time looking it up.
But to get back to the point, if you live in a safe seat for a particular MP then your vote is wasted if you dont go with the flow, in other words, your vote doesn't count and has no bearing in the make up of parliament.

This is going to be the last time I'll say this ( yeah right Lol ), probably.......

All you people saying that this is what the USA people voted for .... Please please please check the statistics.... MORE people voted for Hillary than Trump.

The reason she isn't president is the way the American voting system works with it's stupid " colleges " etc.

I thought the poll would change as the day went on but no...

It seems that over half the yanks don't want him, and less than 30% did

Don't sound very democratic to me :dunno:

I think you need to do something about your irrational hatred of the SNP @silu . ;)
I gather your a Labour or Tory voter or god forbid a Liberal Democrat :yikes:

Your going to respect the Americans for having voted Trump, you want the Snp to respect the No voters and yet you regularly fail to respect the Snp who were voted in by the Scottish public, circa 54 seats out 58 seats. ?:ccheers:

Well, it does look like Hilary Clinton did more more of the popular votes [i.e: nationwide she got more individual votes.] but because she didn't get more individual votes to win in States that carried more Electoral College votes that those she actually did win in then she lost out to the Electoral College system.........:wallbanging: To be honest, Anthony, I really don't think it matters. America is in a state of political turmoil and the outright unsuitability of both candidates is just a symptom of just how dire things are over there. Either way, Trump being Commander in Chief for the next 4 years is either going to kill or cure which might shock the American people to changing the voting system and the way candidates are nominated.
Mussolini became popular by spending millions of Lira in the 1930's on roads, bridges, railways, [he's known still as "the man who made the trains run on time"], and it looks like this is exactly what Trump is going of do. They reckon that could cost about 7 trillion dollars and that will be added to the present 18 million dollars of National Debt.
It's been pointed out that should he carry out his threat to have a trade war with China, putting up trade barriers and imposing import taxes it could lead to China spilling the over one trillion dollar USA debt/deficit onto the market which could be a major problem for the USA with it's already record national debt.:dunno::coffee:

I've just checked and it appear both clinton and trump had 26% of the vote.
48% voted for neither of them?

Bear in mind the Tories over here won with only 24% of the vote in 2015.

I'm only quoting what I have just read, so it maybe wrong.

While we all like to poke fun at the US politicians it should be remembered that in the UK Cameron only got 37% share of the vote on a turnout of 66%. And now we have a new Prime Minister that hasnt even been elected by the people of Britain.

So when we all take the morale high ground and laugh at Trump lets just take look at our less than perfect political voting system.

I know I'm in danger of setting up a lot of political Pheasants by stepping into the Politics of Scotland, Wee Tam, especially with you being an apparent ardent fan of the SNP, but I, and from what I can gather, a lot of Scots have no liking for the SNP....and that is not an "irrational" dislike. The Scots are great people but I think that the SNP, Salmond, Nicola Sturgeon are, again, indicative of the political turmoil that has engulfed the world in the past few years, and hold more of their own extreme nationalistic interests than that of the Scottish people. Yep, I agree they threw out the useless Labour Party, look where the Labour Party is now.....with extremists in charge:doh: But, in my view, the SNP wants only what it wants, will not listen or take note of any referendums etc until they get the answer they want. They have an isolationist policy just like Trump has, while trying to keep links with the EU who regard the £11.6 Billion export of Scotland as chicken feed against that of the UK's £15 Billion member contribution to the EU. If devolution is the way to balance out finances for all 4 members of the UK then that's the way to go, but to expect Scotland to survive economically on a gross GDP of £179 Billion [this years GDP, including oil revenue] is criminally insane.........but then I live across the Border and a Sassenach:dunno::heehee:

That's true, Wee Tam, but I think here in the UK we rarely vote for a individual Political Leader but rather vote for a particular Political Party. As I said in an earlier post, if the proportional representation voting system has been in effect during the last election then UKIP would have 83 MPs. I haven't done the maths but if proportional representation had been in effect in Scotland I have a feeling the SNP would have rather less seats than they do now.:dunno::coffee::snorky:
