I'm not too sure that the use of the words extremism or extremist in the context of the Scottish issue is the way that I would go. There are differing views, that is all.
For what it's worth I agree with the SNP on this one. During the build up to the independence vote Scottish voters were repeatedly told (by Westminster and Brussels) that if they left the UK they would not be able to remain in Europe automatically - they would have to apply to join as an independent state. It is fair to assume from the figures to come out of the Brexit vote that this issue may well have been a factor in the decision of many Scots.
So having made their choice there was another referendum, one where not only Scots were allowed to vote and the result of this vote has been to drastically change what the Scots voted for.
So here I am. a pro European who does not believe that we should have another Brexit vote yet I have to agree that the Scottish people are entitled to another referendum.

Surely you need to be convicted before you can be pardoned?

Well, then, guess she has to be convicted first. Oh, that is interesting. Your right.

I for one certainly miss the likes of John Smith in politics. I too long for the days when a politician of any party said what they were going to do and then set about doing it. I dislike the system of making policy up depending upon what was on the front page of yesterdays Sun or Daily Wail. But as much as I dislike what we have it is still not so bad that it would force me to vote for someone of the calibre of Trump.
Whether you like things or not it is still better to have someone who is competent than someone who lacks the skill for the job. Trump feels that his relative success in business (he was born into a very successful family though, he is not self made) will be enough to get him through but I reckon that he is ill-equipped. Worse, he believes that low (or even better, no) minimum wage is good, employee rights are bad, dodged the Vietnam draft.....................etc.

It's part of the Forum's rules that we deal with everything politely :blue thumb: and the Moderators (all volunteers) are quite strict on it. It works well and very little gets through - with just the occasional warning and the very occasional ban. When there aren't any Moderators on the board there's always some members who are willing to try and ask the participants to calm down before the Mods get them. :)

Why dislike the SNP, They stated they would hold a once in a lifetime referendum on Independence, For a year my life was hell with stress and worry of the outcome, The day came and 56% did not want independence 44% did, 20% of Scots did not vote but 80% is one hell of a turn out, But the respected will of the people will be respected and now two years on Gnasher is still banging on about it for a second independence referendum, so much for all the barefaced lies

2016 election Granted SNP got 46% of the vote, but that means 54% of us do not want to be dictated to by a Dictator, (Not ONE Scottish MP has stated anything other than the party script, therefore they are either mindless with no self opinion or dictate as per FRAU GNASHERs little red book)
Gnasher has done NOTHING parliament wise other than go on and on about independence, Against the majorities wishes, Nothing for the NHS, Nothing for Education, Nothing for Care AND I am still stressed out with them

Constantly against the will of the majority of Scottish people, YET Stands up in Parliament and a message to THE Donald, telling Parliament it may not be what we had wished for but you MUST RESPECT THE WILL of the people
IF once in a lifetime means a lifetime is two years, then thank $eity she will be deid soon

Well, the GC Gang, of which you are a member:snork:, Bay, are genuinely a very friendly, compassionate and helpful crowd:love30:.............but we have had our "moments"":dunno::doh::whistle::heehee::loll::lunapic 130165696578242 5: There has been some very controversial Threads where eventually there has been a Spat:gaah::heehee: But it has always ended in an agreement to disagree on the friendliest of terms. I think most of the Gang will think twice before posting and not post if they think it could be offensive to do so. I was taught in the RAF that if you started to "Shout" in a discussion then it became a "Argument" which you had lost.

I'm not so sure, Anthony. Think about it:dunno:, say you were voting for some person for a position somewhere in, say, a Council which had control over several areas with different populations of voters and using the First Past the Post system, it's a reality that, on average, one person can get the most votes from all the areas and yet fail to win the post because other candidates managed to win individual areas but who's actual votes didn't surpass number of voters of the person getting the most votes!!:dunno::heehee: So, in one context, it's not a fair system. However, the drawback to Proportional Representation is that an area that voted in a majority for one particular Party MP could, because of the way Proportional Representation works, get an MP of another Party "parachuted" in. So, at best, I think "First Past the Post" is a compromise and whether that is a good or bad compromise is up to the view of the individual.:coffee::heehee:

Gnasher and her band did manage to do one thing Jack.
They stopped the shops opening for more than 6 hours on a sunday, this side of the border, unlike they do in Scotland.
