Russia has been selling arms to "militants" in Africa, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, Vietnam, Venezuela, Syria, Myanmar, Sudan, Uganda, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Libya, Iran, Malaysia, Cyprus, Iraq, Egypt, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Jordon, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Ghana, Cameroon,Afghanistan, North Korea, etc to the tune of $29 Billion dollars, last year, and for decades. Why is it that people will point a disapproving finger at a single country and yet fail to mention a country they approve of is selling arms on a basis of Stack 'em High, and Sell 'em Cheap no matter if they're Militants, Repressive Governments etc..:dunno::snorky:

Not really. We've seen the footage. Election day is a big party day in the US. People get really worked up about it. And while some are worshipping Trump, others are violently protesting against the outcome of the democracy they hold so dear.

    Meanwhile, the world keeps turning.

Well, I think that has to be true in many countries, but lack of education is not a mark of lack of intelligence. I've known a great many people who could not, cannot, read properly or write but when it came to intelligence and an ability to solve Life's problems they had me beat.:love30::snorky:

I'm confused  ... my response was in the context of your synopsis of UK elections; somehow, you have taken my words and translated them into US elections? :dunno: My point was that they are not the same thing: one is based on a political party and the other is based on a "political" personality. The two are poles apart.

Perhaps it would be clearer if you made specific reference to a UK, or US, election so that the boundaries are clearer :)

Yes. I can never figure out how these people get to be head of their party.

Oh, our glorious leader has gone to Cuba to hug Castro. Maybe he's trying to get cigars to replace his joints :)

Firstly, I was raised to believe that two wrongs don't make a right. secondly, the general theme of everything I've said expresses the exact opposite of approval or disapproval, in fact I'm questioning the sanity of such bizarre bipolar attitudes. Finally I've never 'approved of' Russia nor disapproved of Russia. My whole point is that it's utterly ridiculous to even take sides. To take sides suggests conflict. I see no sense in such conflict. It's utterly ridiculous. It's not a game. There are no sides. If there is, and one side 'wins', there'll be no round of applause and standing ovation. Just more dead civilians. Their bereaved relatives are unlikely to say, 'those two supposedly civilised sides were right to fight'. More likely, I suspect they'd wonder, how can it be that in a world of global travel and instant communication, we still find ourselves resolving our disagreements with threats and violence.

And yet, due to Human Nature, it happens. You cannot point fingers at any country accusing them of wrong without acknowledging that there are other major countries doing exactly the same or worse......and there are.

I can tell you, from personal experience, clueless, that that is the last thing they think. I am no hero, but I've been shot at several times, had grenades thrown at me, while in the rif raf, and I've been with people who died [at a certain time, long ago, in one bunk room there were 8 of us and only 3 left at the end of my tour]. I didn't see the sense of it then nor do I now. But those bereaved don't ask questions they are drowned in grief, loss, anger, and disbelief, and I'm talking about military relatives, relatives of innocent civilian local populations........there is no room for philosophical or political question.......there is just pain. There's probably quite a few on this Forum that will understand what I've just said. Wars of all levels will continue to occur due to Humans wishing to impose their will, political, or religious, or out of greed, individual madness, the lust for power whether we like it or not. Nobody, especially those taking part in it, see sense in War, think it a game, or that any one country or individual "wins"..we all lose. :coffee:

I take it that you mean that in a generic context. Look around you, there are in our own neighbourhoods individuals who would use threats and violence to intimidate others just out of a perverted attempt at "power". I've always managed to talk through conflicts between individuals in companies, courts, friends and relatives as that is the only way to get an agreement where both sides win to reasonable satisfaction. But I've been attacked in Salford, Manchester late at night by a guy carrying a 6' long iron bar for no other reason that I'd stopped at a red traffic light..........where's the sanity in that. Luckily or me, when I got out of the car to avoid getting glass in my face from the windscreen he thought I was coming to get him and he ran off. War and violence is all around us and for no philosophical or logical reason.

Good morning all my friends this Thread will be closed due that a minority of the posts were becoming hostile and personal which is not in the spirit of Gardeners Corner or this thread which despite the opposing views has been until now very logical, reasonable and peaceful in discussion.
