Just why a simple statement of fact should be felt to be outrageous is quite beyond me
Maybe life is passing me by in my old age and I don't even notice ...... [IMG]

Lady of Leisure and pete sorry to have raised the issue I only looked at this topic because I had Zanteds in a pond for three years but lost them last year to frost, which I found a bit strange. (But that's gardening). They had always been left in the pond through winter. So I guess I have a soft spot for CA's advice.

Sorry not been around for a while [IMG]

Is this your website Charles ?

    http://www.plants-free-for-life.com

I was looking for some information about non flowering eucomis :(

I grow my Zantedeschia in very poor damp soil. It is just off the dog yard and gets washed daily. Not pond conditions but by no means frost free. I think its the freezing and refreezing of the plant which will be the biggest problem in water, but like most plants you have to know your own garden and what works best. Essex is pretty mild by most UK standards and we get away with a lot. My ensete banana for example is still throwing up leaves despite a couple of minus ones.
</font>[/quote]Is my Eucomis doomed to be non flowering, I was hoping Charles would be able to advise why it didn't flower this year :(

Hi Leucojum , it flowered every year for the last 3, but this year just loads of lovely purple leaves but no stems. I think perhaps the lack of heat and sun might be a factor ? But going from such reliability to nothing had me wondering. Fed watered as before and in a good sized pot (I do large pots ;) )

Never had a decent pineapple yet off a eucomis, let alone a banana.
