    Dee, the eucomis autumnalis is known as the pineapple lily because the flowers when bunched together, look like a pineapple. Except in my case where they look like a 3 course meal for the slugs.

    yes john, your white one looks pineapply..gorgeouse plant but it seems tempramental.. a bit like men [​IMG]

    BM, my eucomis didn't flower so well this year either, this is last years pic.
    The clump has been deteriorating for a while now due to being overgrown by trees, so I think some sunshine is good but I dont think they like it too hot.

    Nice Eucomis pete ! not sure what happened but I am pretty shady these days so I think I will move it to a spot with more light.

    BTW, the bulbs get massive, pretty quickly. [​IMG]

    Mine were new last spring so I was lucky to get anything this year even though I cheated and didn't grow from seed. But the ones that came through were hastily devoured by our slimy friends.

    Mine were ok this year but were grown in pots they even had a free butterfly with them,

    So whats the butterfly Walnut?

    Is that autumnalis or comosus, (spelling could be wrong)

    It looks like a speckled wood from here Pete. (The butterfly that is, not the eucy.) But what's it doing in walnut's garden? Mine maybe which is slightly reminiscent of a wild wood/bomb site hybrid. :D
