Hi John, yep could do without it at the moment.

A fortnights ban if you live around here is like a life sentence, we are half an hours walk to the nearest shop, hours walk to the nearest town, 2 hours walk to the nearest railway station.

    Hi Sheal,

If he had drunk my homebrew, he wouldn't have got as far as the car:cool: Always be flippant, flippant is good:dbgrtmb::D

Scrunge, don't let Steve R see that video :phew::D

Am getting a price for re build off the insurance assessor across the road, its a job i'd rather do myself on account of I know what plants I need to look after.

Is there any accounting for loss of crops, time, planting in insurance or do Gardeners just not matter ?

It's worth trying to claim for everything Ziggy, they can only say no (which they usually do), they like taking our money but not giving it back.

I claimed for replacement of plants. You should be able to give a value to what you have lost. I would guess that they would pay out for what your end product would have been. So I would cost it all at top of the range organic food prices. I don't think they will pay you for the time put in, only the output you would have expected.

If you get that from them you will then be able to use the ground for further crops.

Some insurance companies may try to claim that the insurance is null and void because he was driving whilst under the influence. If they do try that tack then you should argue with them. In my (layman's) opinion they should be able to refuse to pay him for the damage to his car but they should pay your third party claim.

I was fortunate that they didn't quibble at all. I hope it goes just as well for you. :dbgrtmb:

      Cheers Steve,

Spoke to the insurers today, claim is in progress.

Mrs just came up to me (which is unusual) and said she thinks it was the same bloke who ran over & killed next doors dog last year.

It was 1 O'Clock in the morning, she heard a thud & there was a bloke staggering around outside saying he thought he hit something.

He couldn't see what so he drove off, the next day we found the (big) dog behind a car.

Mrs said he had the same mannerisms as the bloke who hit the wall.

Do we tell plod this as well ? Got no proof, but if it was him, he's litterally been an accident waiting to happen.

Was sorry to see all this Ziggy.

Bloke sounds like a real piece of work. To be plastered and drive is bad enough but to drive at that speed on those roads. Should be sent down for a while no question.

It's probably worth telling the police about this man Ziggy. Obviously with no proof of him hitting the dog, there's very little for them to go on, but at least they will be aware of the situation and keep a closer eye on him. He'll probably lose his licence anyway and may get tucked away for a bit if he's been in trouble before.

Sorry, this wasn't the way I wanted it to progress.

      Oh well Illegitimi non carborundum.

A month later & still not a peep out of the insurance company despite 2 emails asking whats going on.

Still, the soil has stayed put even after all that rain & things are coming on slowly,

Need some warmer weather, the beans on the left are "Blau Hide" and are quite vigorous but the ones on the right, "yard long beans" are more tender and not getting away.

My grape vine, not doing as well as Rodders one, on account of it living outside in a bucket.

Nestled under the Evening Primrose are the last of Choppers Lettuce and some of Kristens Scorzonera.

Where is Kristen by the way ?

I was wondering that. Maybe he is on holiday.

Give the insurance company a ring. I've always found that polite pestering works wonders. :dbgrtmb:

If I don't get an email response tommorow, i'll send them another one to ask if they would like a thread about AVIVA !!! running on here and Martin Lewis's forums.

        Finally,

Aviva didn't respond to me as their driver refused to get back to them.

No one has seen him since he crashed, he was in the paper, got a drink drive ban & a fine.

Aviva then subbed the case out to another company who have been curteous and prompt. They have agreed a settlement & are lobbing a cheque in the post.

I can get on & rebuild the garden at last.:dbgrtmb:
