Ziggys' West Bay,Dorset Veg Plot

On the tower of Wells Cathedral, where the Medieval carvings have eroded away so far as to be unrecognisable, the Masons were given free range to carve something that represented the current times, so future generations could see that it was from now and not original.

I saw "Cider Man" a face looking hung over with a big split nose & a hand clutching his throat.

I didn't see, but was assured they exist, a carving of Mickey Mouse, The Road Runner and a Marijuanna Plant

Wonder what the Bishop of Bath and Wells thought of those:D

Typical laziness
Not a single thing in the greenhouse

No well done, only my "autistic streak" can not stand the odd black planter in the wall row with a pefectly good one that would match opposite on the fence

I am not "autistic" though that type of set up drives me nuts I would just have to sort it

Now you really need to get the fence preserved, a couple of hours with the new watery stuff at most
I know nowt about gardening, but next year when you are climbing through the vegetation to get something on the fence, you will say, Jack was right
Your fence or not you are going to train your fruit against it and it will be too late then

Anyway good days job, have tomorrow a'noon make and mend

Good point about the planters, will sort that out

Have had a word with the Gaffer about fence preservative, but she is in such an odd mood at the moment, i'd need to be in the shop with her & her purse, still not got the £8 for the 2 stroke oil to fix her hedge trimmer after she put meths or diesil in it.:DOH:

There is something in the greenhouse, a small bench to sit on & have a cup of tea

 

I've got the 2 stroke oil, just no petrol :'(

 

It's looking good Ziggy. Got any plans for the greenhouse yet, apart from a bench and a cuppa to while away the time.

Got to attack the bindweed in there before anything major, but planning on bringing some stuff in in pots to overwinter, leaf spinach, land cress, pak choi, stuff that will survive outside but might benefit from a bit of protection when the minus 15c comes again.

Will be great for making wine in during the summer too

Grape Vine
My Italian Barber has a greenhouse behind the shop
His Vine is planted outside in the ground, the Vine itself is in the Greenhouse
He gets loads and loads of grapes edible and sweet

As to the poor show of tomatoes in my first try greenhouse
Are you saying Ziggy that demijohns in the greenhouse will work better
Looks like I am about to go Winery this coming year then

The vine at Hampton Court is grown like that too Jack, got mine in a bucket at the moment.

Made wine in the old greenhouse during the summer, thats overgrown & doesn't get much light. Wine went from 0-24% in 5 days

The good thing is that atmospheric CO2 is at an all time low, plants have evolved to use much higher concentrations so if you brew wine or beer in the greenhouse, you get higher yields. There are greenhouses set up next to factories where the CO2 is pumped thru them.

Been clearing the plot today, preparing for winter & finally got the garlic planted, about 70 blubs.



The bed with the blocks around it will have some protection come the bad weather, its got Mizuna, Land Cress & Rocket in it.



Been sorting out last years compost, sieved 2 dustbins full, and making a new heap.



Bonfire ready to go.


This is the one, if I don't give it Cabbage it just stares at me.

 

It must be torture for all those sheep just staring at your juicy veg Ziggy had any insurgencies?

 

Most of them are shy, there have been a few group nibblings though.

 

I'm sure you leaf beet wouldn't be looking so good if you had a gaggle of hens who squarked like crazy unless they were given half a carrier bag full of the stuff every day.
