Depending on what software you are working on, once you have opened Zoom you may be able to right click on the Zoom tab at the top of your screen and some options will drop down. If there is an option that says 'Pin to toolbar'. If you click on that it should place the link to it at the bottom of your screen so that you can call it up whenever you like.

Thanks @shiney I tried that but it doesn't say 'pin to toolbar' or anything similar.
Anyway I've been able to save the page on that drop down menu called 'Favourites Bar' like I've done with Gardeners Corner and some other things, so I'll be able to find it now.

You can either use applications (apps) online, meaning that you will have to go to that website every time, or download and install the app into your computer.

Installing the app means you have it in your device. It's just another programme, like Google Chrome or Word.

If you are using your new Zoom regularly, it's probably worth clicking the "Install" box and have it on your desktop ready to be tweaked the way you like it.

I use Skype (does exactly the same thing as Zoom, just a different brand) and this is how it looks on my computer. I just double click and call someone on my Zoom phonebook listed on the app (a person or a group call like our Sunday family calls) and they answer the call or not.

I must admit that The Child sorted everything out when I stumbled on things like creating an account. And my Dad still believes that "Countess Clara Windsor" is a malicious scammer regardless that I tried to explain I was just trying to create an anonymous account to see how the thing works

Some of our 'zooms' are on Zoom and others on Skype. Skype has free unlimited time per meeting but fewer people use it now.

Thanks for your replies  ... but I don't think I'll bother with it after all, it was just a thought. Since I usually see people in person I don't think I'd have any use for it ...
and anyway I'm not someone who keeps talking all the time. When I'm with company there are several pauses and non-verbal moments which would be awkward on something like Zoom.

It's nice to know such things are beneficial to many though, and I suppose lots of people depend on them. That's good if it helps you in your life, but everyone's situation is different.

I've thought about it, (zoom), but then I thought who am I going to talk to, most people I know are less technical than I am, and that's saying something, so I have not bothered.

I'd have next to no contact with my three children if I didn't have Skype. One in Canada, one in America and the other on the Isle of Man. We Skype regularly as well as being in contact via 'Messenger' every day.

Mr S has Zoom too. That came about during covid shutdown needing contact with our IFA. We find Skype is easier to use than Zoom and video calls with our family can last up to three hours.

Definitely agree that Skype is easier (neither is difficult) but we use Zoom for some family calls because we find 40 minutes can be more than enough and don't have to be embarrassed by trying to get away.

During covid one of our Zooms was with 40 cousins but we have now dropped that one. We still have Zooms, no more than a dozen in each (plus some cats who always seem to want to walk across keyboards :heehee:) and between six countries plus eight different places in the UK and five in the US. :phew:

Maybe if I had close family living far away Zoom/Skype/or whatever would be a good idea for me too, but I only have a few relations and some of those are not very communicative anyway,
so I don't know why I thought about it in the first place, and
I've decided not to bother with it.
